I suppose that it depends on the type of graft used. Probabily intramembranous origin may have less resorption that endochondral one´s. Other important issue is the type of graft; cancellous or cortico-cancellous blocks. I have observed in my cases important resorption in allogeneic cancellous grafts, however I am having very good results with cortico-spongiosa allogeneic bone grafts for this purpose obtained from ilium crest. In majority of cases we found no resorption of the grafts.
I have a little experience with allograft (Puros cancellous block Zimmer)
The horizontal increasing (cortical cancellous block covered with particulate and pericardium membrane) controlled after six months 10/11 months and 18 months after the graft has given excellent results and no appreciable resorption.
The vertical increasing with block is not satisfactory, perhaps because it is difficult to manage the temporary mobile restoration
But I have not experience with vertical blocks in cases of limited extension, where use membranes or titanium mesh
this is a very emotionally loaded issue flooded with case reporting and opinions. on a sober note bone biomaterials (synthetic or cadaver bone derived so called "allografts") only add bulk but not new tissue as is the case with autograft and BMP constructs. thus biologically very diverse outcomes although the clinical appreciation can be similar.
I agree. The study is not done with emotional feelings. Sometimes they are useful only to give the strength to continue.

Over time (variable depending on site, size, etc.). Entire allograft disappears and is replaced by vital bone of the patient. These are data that I can show, and in some articles I started to show. They are not emotions
