The purpose is this study was to explore the Role of School Leadership in Leaner Performance (RSLLP) in 60 selected Government Republic of Zambia (GRZ) Secondary Schools in the Copperbelt Province.
The study focused on the following objectives:
1. To determine the relationship between school leadership and learner performance in secondary schools.
2. To establish how leadership practices either positively or negatively affects leaner performance in secondary schools.
The study correctly used the mixed methods triangulation design and employed the following tools/instruments during the data collection: Questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. In addition, it used the document analysis and observation sheet to collect more information. The study was both quantitatively and qualitatively analysed. The study demonstrated that there was a strong relationship between school leadership and learner performance.
It was affirmed that where school leadership was strong, leaner performance was equally high. It was also found that leadership practices had an effect on learner performance. Thus, the study confirmed that everything rises and falls on leadership and that when leadership is changed, performance is also changed.
