I just want to know the relation between research work and journal impact factor. I observed that some time good research work published in low impact factor Journal. Some times i observed that comparatively low quality research published in high impact factor journal. Some paper reject from low impact factor journal but published in higher impact factor journal than the rejected journal.
Hello. There is no short answer to this question. The best for you is to understand the meaning behind the JIF and journal ranking methods (the major methods are citation impact, which is often based on the JIF, and author surveys). Overall, the methods produce highly comparable results, but there are many outliers. With respect to individual articles, first, the notion of article quality is an ambiguous terms with no universal definition. Theoretically, the 'quality' of articles is supposed to be higher in higher ranked journals, but there are many exceptions since luck is one of the major factors in the peer-review process. The impact factor is a measure of visibility of the journal and is established by those who cite papers from the journal. The visibility is often translated into influence, and some status that the journal receives. Actually, the difference between the quality of a research work, and the impact of the journal is a matter of difference between subjective and objective evaluation; The impact of a journal is established by the number of citations it receives, which is an objective measurement, and the decision to accept or reject an article from a journal is done by subjective evaluation of expert opinion of the reviewers.
How can we know the reasons why the low impact factor journal rejected the article . and why the high impact factor accepted it? THAT IS THE POLICY OF EACH JOURNAL . Mistakes are not impossuble.
