What is the relationship between architecture and the enviroment? How to let the design of building adapt with climate and the enviroment?

Environment plays such and important role in architecture, since architecture defines in a context. This context reflects in environment. Architecture appears with nature, society, culture and ... In this way architecture and environment work in same line but with the diverse duties.Moreover, it seems sustainability and green buildings will play such an important role in designing soon and the environment would be the first and main priority in not only in architecture but also in design.
