I want to analyse Raman spectrum of GO which is 1mg/mL aq. solution spin coated on a glass substrate in 3 stages (500rpm, 800rpm and 1500rpm, each for 30 seconds). I hereby attach the spectrum obtained. As you can see it is not in the form as in standard results. However, there are peaks at 1356 and 1601, confirming presence of GO. Anyone has any idea about this unexpected result? Also, Would you please tell me how it is possible to relate defects and thickness of GO layer from these peaks?
I feel you didn't done back ground correction for the spectra. You peaks are came as expected as per my knowledge.

My synthesis process is different. From my experience, your G peak is not symmetric, is it possible to de-convolute this peaks into G and D'? And from ID/IG ratio, using Tuinstra-Koenig relation, you can find out the crystalline size and inter defect distance. If you are able to get D' peak, ID/ID' will give you the information about nature of defects. Just try.

I'm agree with you that ID/IG ratio is a measure of material defectiveness, in crude way you can find out the inter-defect distance from that ratio and if you are able to deconvolute the peak around 1580 to G and D', ID/ID' will give you the information about type of defects. Are you really worried about the background? i have operated a raman spectrometer. in several cases I observed such increasing background for carbon related materials when the sample is burnt, try to reduce the intensity of the laser or change the filter, you may get a symmetric spectrum with good background.
The D to G peaks in Graphene is associated with the defect in the graphene.
In my recent paper titled Temporospatial Control of Graphene Wettability, I have compared Raman spectra of single layer graphene and single layer graphene oxide with different oxygen content. It might help you.
