I"ve been wondering if anyone knows of a reference that lists the range for TVI. I could reason from the formula that it should be from 0 to ~1.22 since the range for NDVI is between -1 and 1 inclusive.
TVI = sqrt(NDVI + 0.5)
I'd appreciate any suggestions and help.

The Transformed Vegetation Index (TVI) transforms NDVI histograms into a normal distribution.
TVI = (NDVI + 0.5)^0.5
It is used to eliminate -ve values but it cannot be calculated when NDVI < -0.5.
Range: 0 to 1.22
The Transformed Vegetation Index (TVI) has higher coefficient of determination for the same variable with positive values and the variances of the ratio are proportional to mean values. The TVI indicates a relation between the amount of green biomass that is found in a pixel. The range is often between 0 and 1.2.
