I am doing some experiment in a turbulence chamber and I need to estimate "Kinetic Energy Dissipation Rate".
The chamber has a dimension of 0.8x0.8x5.5 m and hot air is blown into the chamber using a fan. The conditions is assumed to be steady state and both ends of the chamber are open.
I don't know anything about "Fluid"!
I can measure the wind speed and temperature.
It could be possibles by measuring statistical pressure from surface of profile. By using pressure values and parameters of medium can be calculated statistic force as well as kinetic force. Finally Kinetic Energy Dissipation Rate could be measured from change of kinetic energy with respect of distance...
Kinetic energy is a measure of the increase in velocity of the air particles which increases with temperature. However, over a period of time and distance the energy dissipates into heat and other forms. If you're using CFD, then that's where the k-e model solves the Navier-Stokes in cartesian coordinate system.
"Kinetic energy dissipation rate" describes the rate of conversion of fluid kinetic energy to heat, by friction, and is one of the terms in the energy equation for fluid flow. Recommend formulating your problem using the energy equation in integral form, where your test chamber is the control volume. Simplifying this equation will allow you to express the net rate of dissipation in your test chamber in terms of variables (e.g. temperature, pressure, velocity, etc.) you can measure at the inlet and outlet faces of your test chamber. In other words, the integral equation will tell you precisely what needs to be measured to make your estimate Chapter 3 of "Fluid Mechanics" by F.M. White is a great place to get you started.
