First as i opened the model, the power lib is needed. If you want that we are capabale to analyse the model please wrtite the used matlab version and required libraries.
Second. The model i opend was a 3 phase pwm rectifier and does what it has to do, rectifies input signals. Scaling the input signal (sin) means only to set the amplitude to a specific value not more. Setting the amplitude simulates the "real" input signal amplitude.
I dont think that k=1.2 is to allow blanking time between switching ON a switch after turning OFF another switch of the same leg. Because by cheking the model both switches of the same leg change at the same time after the "Relational Operator".
scaling factor is for adjusting the modulation index of that rectifier. The amplitude of carrier is fixed = 1. The amplitude of modulation waveform is adjusted by that scaling factor. maybe 1.2 or 1.8 is a given value within the range
