We are about to start a restoration program of a degraded area due to livestock grazing in the Sahel region. The area was subjected to overgrazing for more than 20 years, and its vegetation cover has declined to less than 10%. Please, if you have any literature regarding this topic is warmly welcomed.
Professor David Scholefield and I started developing a POACHING model many years ago at Grassland Research Institute (UK). On our retirement it was handed over to workers in Australia or New Zealand. You need to replenish with the new seeds of grasses which are improved varieties with this you can definitely improve the grazing land further you need to you put some fertilizer especially before the start of rainy seasons this will definitely improve the production potential of that land

First step ; u should improve soil health through multching of leaves and FYM for the period 2 to 3 years . Planting hydrophobic plant for water holding . Lastly u make the Design for grazing area.
