We are going to do an experiment that by air it produces cold plasma or atmospheric pressure plasma and i want to know what is the proper pressure of the inlet air ?( our source power around 3- 10kv & 10 -20KH)
Which type of plasma are you going to use? (DBD, corona, plasmajet, glow discharge, gliding arc, etc.)? Most of these plasma can be generated under atmospheric pressure, so I don’t expect many problems to ignite the plasma.
To increase the plasma 'jet' length, you need an air compressor, but to produce DBD plasma, you need not need any compressed air. We have a group that has developed a small plasma jet device used to treat fungal infection on skin by treating them with plasma jet, they use an air compressor to produce the plasma jet.
I think it's usually about 3mm in Plasma length produced by air But I need more length, for example, about one centimeter & in this case What pressure compressor should I use then?
Around 4-5 bar in our case. But make sure you keep the flow rate under control, else you will require much higher energy to breakdown and produce the plasma. This is where nozzle diameter comes into play. A conical shaped nozzle helps in increasing the 'jet' length.
I'm not sure what plasma length you are referring to, but normally lower pressure is prefered. the breakdown voltage depends on the pressure and the distance between electrodes (the Paschen's curve). since you have 3-10 kV, for DBD it should be ok at atmospheric pressure if the gap is not too large. hope this may help, good luck.
