I have tried twice.The first one is using the wet extraction (biomass is not weigh) so I thought the inconsistency of fatty acids production is due to the different in biomass used. Then, I repeat the experiment but using the dried biomass where the biomass used is around 10mg but still the sum of fatty acids produced is inconsistent. For your information, we have checked for contamination before harvesting. Is there any possibility that might contribute to this problem?Thank you.

Interspecific variability is very common amongst algal metabolites. Were all your replicates standardised to cell count? Sometimes the errors can be reduced by changing the normalisation status. Good luck
1. check for possible contamination of batch/flask culture.
2. Initial pre-culture load (densitiy) and cell number maintenance.
3. growth conditions-consistence.
Most of all and people overlooked is ..continuous sub-culturing of strains...without eve noticing what it is some people keep subculturing for many generations. have frequent microscopic observation ..
