In TCSPC (Time-correlated single photon counting) measurement, how do we know about the photogenerated carrier density?

Hi,

Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) doesn't directly measure the photogenerated carrier density but rather captures the time-resolved fluorescence decay of a sample. This information reveals valuable details about the sample's excited state dynamics and the environment containing the fluorophores. In fluorescence measurements, when a photon is absorbed by a fluorophore, it becomes excited, creating electron-hole pairs. These pairs recombine, resulting in fluorescence emission, and TCSPC is employed to analyze the dynamics of this recombination process.
