I would like to know the percentage of resonator neurons compared with integrator ones in the nervous system. I would also be interested to know where they are mainly located and what are their functions as well. Please, provide me some references. Thanks!
may you first give your definition of a resonator neuron (I assume it refers to any neuron showing an intrinsic membrane oscillation and hence a best frequency of stimulation but other definitions exist). Similar for integrator neuron, do you define it by a specific mathematical function or just any neuron receiving input from more than one neuron - if the latter than all but receptor cells are integrator neurons

I'm referring to the two classes of neuron described in: E.M. Izhikevich, "Dynamical Systems in Neuroscience: The Geometry of Excitability and Bursting". MIT Press, pp. 205-235, 2007.
From a purely mathematical point of view, according to the author, you can switch from the resonator model to the integrator one, under appropriate considerations about the ionic currents.
I would be interested to know from a biological point of view if there is a clear distinction between the two classes. If so, I would like to understand what are their biological characteristics and what is the percentage of these classes that can be found in the nervous system (and where they are located).
