Mass is a property of matter, how can we distinguish intrinsic from physical?

I understand that mass is a scalar and physically measurable quantity. In case of space, it is a vector or a tensor .  Point space is also has a dimension of value zero with respect to coordinates chosen.  we can extract a scalar like mass quantity from chosen space. So in what respects we have to choose the limits. Here space doesn't know the time.
