I am currently working on the bioaccumulation of nickel in Sargassum polycystum, but I can't seem to find the level limit of nickel in said species. Anyone who knows the level limit in accordance to WHO and NAOCC?
It depends first of all from local environmental conditions; secondary - from method of determining the content of elements. Scarce that WHO and NAOCC can provide this information for all species. And You can be the first among researchers with the following results
I think there is no limits given of heavy metals for any of the seaweed species, it can be find by experimenting on different doses of Nickel and study the dose response of related species.
what it means the limit ? You want to find that there are possibilities for human use this species of plants? Because if the plant is growing in this place, it means that the existing conditions comfortable for the plants. Because this plant absorbs from the environment necessary a quantity of nutrients
I want to know whether the accumulated nickel in the seaweed thalli from a nickel mined area were above the standard limits. However, after reading Krishnna and your answers, I decided to change my objective and focus on whether there are significant difference between the nickel concentration of Sargassum between a mined and a not mined area. Furthermore, i would also compare the obtained results to Sargassum found in mining areas from other places.
