There are many species with very short shelf life as cut flowers. Shelf life is dependent as well on preharvest growing conditions. As a rule of thumb I indicate orchids (Laelia and Cattleyas) as species with short vase life. Orchids are also very sensitive to Botrytis which results in high postharvest losses. And final comment: it also depends on what is considered short vase life. In some places seven days of vase life might be considered too short.
Growing conditions and preharvest practices pose vase life of many flower species; thus you should be quite careful on selecting the flower species & treatments you plan to impose.
