To take every measures to reduce the NOISE itself as the sole source of noise pollution. It is, indeed, a collective effort arising out of conscience, wisdom and love to human and nature as well.
In addition to all the previous comments, planting trees is one of the ways through which noise pollution can be reduced, as large and lush trees help absorb noise, so it is advised to plant trees along the city streets, between homes, and along highways, so the areas that are planted The trees are quieter than the areas where the trees are not planted.
"Planting "noise buffers" composed of trees can reduce noise approximately 50% to the human ear. To achieve this effect, the species and the planting design must be chosen carefully.
Ekhlas A. Hussein Rasha Shaker Nima Many thanks for sharing valuable responses.. My residential complex is surrounded by lush green trees around, which may be reducing the chaotic traffic noises..all the more reasons for plantation drive..
There's a saying in my country: you can't clap with one hand, so from my point of view everything you mentioned is significant, but the two most important things are (Education and Government efforts).
I think that the solution should be location specific because of spatial and special peculiarities. For instance, in Nigeria, noise conceptualization is still a daunting task because many residents are ignorant of what constitutes noise pollution as well as its adverse socio-economic impacts.
If fact, sections of various communities seem to enjoy the increasing culture of noise exposure in various cities of the global south whereas in the cities of the global north, there are established noise guidelines, standards and strict regulatory framework.
Therefore, noise control efforts should be relative to location and situation. Education can be an effective tool for cities in the global north where there is a lull in noise awareness while government efforts (regulation) can work better in areas where there is significant degree of noise pollution awareness.
Generally, and as a rule of thumb, solution should be guided by the existing problem or situation.
Planting trees and shrubs can act as "noise buffers" and can reduce noise 5-10 decibels. Replacing stress-inducing environmental sounds with more pleasing, soothing, enjoyable and inspirational sounds may create a healthier source of the noise. Improved infrastructure through low-noise road transport, noise screens, tunnels and building insulation and improving traffic management and noisy workplace, schools, and other public places can be useful in tackling noise pollution.
Technical solutions and national policy are important to reduce noise. Not to forget trees and shrubs - the natural green barrier used to combat noise pollution.
Dear Rozalina Chuturkova - I agree with yo u that Technical solutions and national policy will play an important role in reduction of the noise. Thanks for your valuable inputs....
Noise is one of the most common occupational health hazards. ... To prevent adverse outcomes of noise exposure, noise levels should be reduced to acceptable levels. The best method of noise reduction is to use engineering modifications to the noise source itself, or to the workplace environment.
Half of old people in my area need a hearing aid, because obviously when they were younger they didn't protect their ears from excessive noise.
Today, in a technological society we make some silly inventions. The hand driers in washrooms in North America for example make the noise of a jet engine! You will be half-deaf if you use one.
I often bring my grandchildren around and they always avoid public bathrooms for this reason. They want to protect their ears! The society wants to destroy their ears!
Noise hazaerd can't be controlled 100%, but can be minimized. Different noise has different mitigation measures. For example at industries the following measures may help in minimization:
1. Lubrication
2. Source isolation
3. Regular maintenance
4. Soundproof doors and windows
5. Substitution of old machinery with a new one.
6. Isolation of employees in a noise free shelter
7. Scheduling noisy process during non critical time.
8. Noise or vibrating absorbing materials
9. Observation windows to observe a process through a distance. This is also possible through CCTV cameras. And the most important is
the answer related to the location of the problem. as in countries with responsible citizens, the best would be Empowering Civil Authorities or as in a country with neighbors-noise problem, Empowering police or Government efforts could relate. moreover, the noise source is another crucial factor to be considered.
An integrated approach including measures to limit the noise at the source, noise control within the sound transmission path, protection at the receiver’s site, land-use planning, education and raising of public awareness is crucial to reduce noise pollution.
Wearing earplugs is a cost-effective solution of reducing noise pollution. A pair of earplugs can be worn while sleeping or at any other time of the day when you want to reduce the amount of noise hitting your eardrums.

To reduce noise pollution will depend statistically, however, Environmental Impact Assessment has to assess them first on how the noise works on that location and possible design to reduce it.
I think legislation and international standards (e.g. ISO) have the main responsibility in this issue by forcing companies to produce machines with low sound level.
