Is it large or microalgae? For microalgae I used DNeasy Plant Mini Kit. A friend of mine also did the same for larger algae but have been introducing beeds steps to properly crush the cells.
Most of the standard plant extraction kits from a range of suppliers should provide small amounts of suitable quality DNA from most microalgae, for PCR applications. Depending on the robustness of the cell walls, kits that include a bead beating lysis often helps in increasing yield.
If you need larger amounts of high quality DNA, then standard CTAB or phenol-base DNA extractions often work just as well and can be scaled up to larger extraction volumes. Many macroalgae can however be difficult to extract and result in co-extracted polysaccharides...so if this is your starting material then extraction can be problematic and highly variable between species.
