I may be conducting field work in the future that seeks to understand how female signal crayfish fecundity (external egg count ideally, and/or internal egg count/ ovary weight) is affecting population density in wild populations. Berried females are known for their avoidance of traps, and I am worried about obtaining low sample size by using the wrong methodology. How effective is electrofishing at picking them up? Has anybody ever tried electrofishing at night? (dangerous!)
