I would recommend the newest one, but it depends on you operative system.

I have a mac and the newest versions do not work fine on it. If you have Windows, you can use the newest.

I would recommend using the last long term release (2.14.Essen LTR) as it's also advised for corporate users. LTR releases are supported with backported bug fixes for one year (maybe more), and there is no new features added. There are only bug fixes and trivial updates. This approach provides stability. I have this version installed on Windows 10 and Mac OSX El Capitan, that works without problems.
