As you know the American schoars in Comp. Lit. were emphesize on theory, instead of practice, and there are a few papers or articles which focused on the practical aspects of American School. I think they were theorisian and not practical scholars in this field, especially their scopes were not practicable. What is your idea and what do you think about this? Do you accept my openion?

Currently, the methodology utilized by proponents of the American School in Comparative Literature places equal emphasis on literary theory and literary criticism, but with a special twist. With the advent of globalization in more mundane and worldly areas, i.e., commercialization as opposed to the importance of literature, music, and the arts, the standard balance of theory and criticism, along with a solid basis in literary and cultural history, the traditional focus on West European, English, American, and Russian (Eurasian) literature has now been expanded to encompass the literature, cultures, and histories of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, including the Caribbean region, and, to a lesser extent, Canada, Australia, Scandinavia, and oral and folk traditions. Generally, the conventional focus on textual analysis is still very strong. The proliferation of texts tends to favor theory, in other words, whether in instructional classroom settings or in scholarly books and academic journals, one finds more courses and more publications utilizing theory so as to group different genres and types of literature together under the aegis of a common critical and/or theoretical principle of organization. Binary studies comparing two works in two different national literary or cultural traditions are still very popular and, in my view, the best way to introduce comparative literature to new students. While some students and readers have a proclivity for theoretical discussions, the vast majority appreciate the clarity of a thematically or symbolically centered discussion, or critically focused analysis of, for example, characters and types, genres and movements. In my opinion, multicultural literary studies are edging purely theoretical discussions out of the academic limelight.
