What is the metabolism of E. coli during anaerobic growth in rich media, LB or TSA?

Hi fellas,

Recently, we are culturing E. coli in Tryptone Soy Broth under anaerobic conditions. I am just wondering how the bacteria produce energy and what is the metabolism under this growth condition?

Does the bacteria ferment glucose and amino acids in the media? What about anaerobic respiration? Use nitrate as electron acceptor?
