Dextrose is used for treatment of porphyria. Dextrose inhibit synthesis of heme may be through its effect on ALA synthesis . why and by which mechanism carbohydrates have such effect. I want to know the exact effect of dextrose

My understanding is that the porphrins bind to the carbohydrates and the carbohydrates absorbs the porphrins.
