In fact, if the universe had a beginning, it means that the universe did not exist at one time, and then found the universe, after God created it. This is meant by the process of creation "from nothingness" (ex nihilo ex nihilo in Latin). This does not mean that God took a "handful of nothingness" to make anything out of it, as if nothingness had been adopted by God in His creation of the world. There was God, and simply was not with him anything else he had never existed before.

          In other words, creation "from nothingness" simply means that God was not created from anything else that existed with Him, as in some forms of bisexualism that recognizes the existence of two essential elements. This is actually the process of ex materia, that is, creation from an existing substance outside God. This creation is called XMeteria. The Greek philosopher Plato adopted this theory.

          Likewise, God did not create the world out of itself (ie ex Deo). That is, God did not take part of Himself to make the universe. In fact, God, according to the true Christian faith, has no parts. It is an integral entity and one in absolute. Therefore, in no way can God have taken part of Himself to make Him the world. God is infinite, while the world is limited and has an end. No amount of parts has an end, it can make what is infinite, because no matter how many pieces or parts a person possesses, it is always possible to increase an extra piece to it. In contrast, nothing can be added to the Infinite. Whatever the number, the parts can never be equal to the infinite. Therefore, it is not possible that God created the world from a part of itself (ex materia).

          The world is God, but it is not God. It is the problem of its existence, but not its essence. Came into being through it, but it is not made of it. But if the world was not created from ex deo or ex materia existed with God, then it is necessary that it be created from ex nihilo. There is no alternative. God made something that had no existence before he made it, neither in itself nor in anything else.

          The only place for the "existence" of the world before God made it was an idea in the mind of God. Just like a painter who has an idea about his painting before he draws it, so God had an idea of the world to make it. In this sense, the world had a former existence in the mind of God as an idea, before being and bringing it into existence.

Creation "ex nihilo" was a Christian term to deny the Demiurge hypothesis frequently alluded to in the Gnostic cosmologies. Gnostics thought that the "Creator" God of the Bible was only a craftsmen working from the primaveal matter. Therefore the Christians emphasized that God created the Universe form "nothing". Not even form Himself, as the Gnostic "emanation" hypothesis assumes.

The Biblical evidence is somewhat more complex, however. In Hebrew 11,3 "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" (KJV), "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." (NIV) I.e. it was made of things which are not visible. According to Colossians 1,16 "For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him." This is compatible with a multi-stage creation: first the creation of invisible things and, from these invisible things the creation of the visible ones. It is not compatible with the "emanation" hypothesis, however, as the "invisibles" are also created things (or beings).
