What is the main role of Uabc_ref generation module in the DQ control of grid connected inverter?

I am trying to simulate a grid controlled VSC. In the example simulink file inside MATLAB, for the main controller there is a block named Uabc_ref generation which is fed by the output of the current regulator.

Can anyone explain how the Uabc_ref is generated? Also why cannon we directly convert the current regulator output into v_abc voltage and then compare with a triangular wave?

The output of the current controller is in park frame dq, it is necessary to transform it in frame a b c , to be able to compare it with the carrier and generate the PWM signal
