I am trying to develop a ground motion prediction equation considering only Indian data. For this I am following the procedure given in Joyner and Boore paper (1993). It involves single stage multiple regression along with Maximum likelihood Method and Golden section search method. I am getting a standard deviation of residuals for Peak Ground Acceleration as 42 Cm/s^2 (or 0.046 in g units). I am also getting a reduced chi squared value of 2.2434. Is this good enough. Thank you.

I am not sure to clearly understand your numbers. Ground-Motion Prediction Equations predict the logarithm of ground-motion amplitude using a gaussian distribution. The standard deviation of these empirical models lie around 0.3 when using log10. 10**0.3~2, which gives an uncertainty of a factor 2 for the ground-motion amplitude.

A good paper you can use to compare yourn sigma with values obtained by other researchers is Strasser et al, 2011, inked in the following. It reports dozen of uncertainties on GMPE from paper published in the last 40 years.
