Dear all colleagues:

I though this could be an interesting thread of discussion:

In branches of sciences and engineering like Nanotechnology, Electronics and/or Nanoelectronics, LASERs, the so called Phononics or Nanophononics, etc., consider mainly Nanosciences ...

When modeling or trying to interpret experimental results from a physical system,

There is something we can say with certitude ? about:

If we think about applied physics in function of the lenght scale, i.e. for example: Electric Circuits ... Electronic Circuits ... Microelectronics(MEMS, etc, ) ... Nanoelectronics ... Molecular Systems ...

Where is the threshold in lenght scale (order of magnitude) located ? Where Quantum Mechanical effects need to be considered, to obtain results that predicts and model accurately good enough the behaviour of these small systems.

e.g. when effects as:

Quantum Tunneling, Quantum Confinement, Quantum Size Effects, Energy Filtration of Carriers, etc, etc.. must be taken into account.

Hope anyone can say something interesting about it.

Best Regards ! :)
