I am curious about the interconnection/relationship between two important fields Instructional Systems Technology and Human-Computer Interaction/Design.
I think interconnections, as well as similarities and differences, can be identified on multiple levels and from many different aspects. According to me the major conceptual interconnection between the two domains of knowledge/practice is in their complementer nature. While HCI focuses on and is the advocate for the user (needs, interaction, preferences, background) {thereby facilitating and making the completion of the tasks of learning tailored and using any system as easy as possible}, instructional systems technology focuses on the manifestations of systems and the system aspects {such as intuitiveness, smartness, adaptation, socialization, and personalization).
Kind regards,
I.H.

from practical viewpoint, when you design instructional system, you need to consider the HCI aspects so that users will use your system.

Dr. Mat Zin,
I agree with your note - on the floor of actions, the two aspects come together (it is a consequence of their complementing nature).

Hi Zuheir,
While interaction design focuses on "adapting" technology to humans, instructional systems/design focuses on "changing" humans using technology. I agree with the above but the interaction has to be inviting and user friendly like wise for the instructional system if you do not have a user interface the instruction become boring and people loose interest. The average attention span of a person is 15 minutes, and you only have the first 5 minutes of interest, that is how long it will take a regular person to process and decide
