Acidity of zeolite significantly depends on Si/Al ratio and in this case, if I increase the Si in zeolite framework, how it will affect the acidity and catalytic activity.
well, if you increasing the Si this meaning increase the ratio Si/Al according to that decreasing the catalytic active sites because the idea of zeolite change the Al to get acid active site
Thank you Magdi. As far I know, higher ratio of Si/Al increases the Bronsted site. If there is higher number of Bronsted sites, how it will decrease the catalytic active sites in zeolite framework?
In general with the increase in Si/Al ratio (for HZSM5), The total acidity decreases, Bronsted and Lewis both also decrease ( Journal of Energy Chemistry 23(2014)771–780 ). Related to catalytic activity, it will depend what reaction you are doing and to get the target product what type of acidity (bronsted or lewis ) is required.
