Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is an integrated approach to managing landscapes—cropland, livestock, forests and fisheries--that address the interlinked challenges of food security and climate change. One in nine people suffers from chronic hunger and 12.9 percent of the population in developing countries is undernourished. The food security challenge will only become more difficult, as the world will need to produce about 70 percent more food by 2050 to feed an estimated 9 billion people. Food security can be measured by calorie intake per person per day. In general , the objective of food security indicators and measures is to capture some or all of the main components of food security in terms of food availability, access and utilization or adequacy.
