Climate change has impacted everywhere, every-sector and peoples. The most vulnerable group are mountain communities. Therefore it would be good to know about the case studies if available.
i would like to start from the reference of Neo-determinism approach which state that there is no necessity but everywhere there is possibility and man is the master of these; can judge and use , but with in the range that nature has given to him. Means everywhere there is limit and u will have to work within that limit if u will go beyond that limit than only and only u r responsible who pave the path of destruction.
Here climate change would not be confide to change in the climate but it should considered as change in macro and micro ecosystem of land , water , air and biosphere; individually might be less effective but aggregately and collectively have vital effects on all the biotic and abiotic component of environment.
how man modify the environment-
1) By developing the technology he invented the source of his comfort as a result of that he changed the climate of city by adding a lot harmful gases into the atmosphere, by adding harmful content into river water and underground water and soil.
2) in the countryside (rural areas) where primary activities are most prevalent , he total modify the way of agriculture by adding new varieties of seed which led to extinction of local plant spices. same pattern of change occurred in other primary activities also.
3) in the coastal area by over fishing and adding poisonous element through river or other activities such as drilling for petroleum.
4) in the mountainous region establishing habitat even at more inaccessible areas and disturbing the virginity of the areas.
now come to ur point -
change in the climate lead to change in the raining pattern and seasonality of the areas, due to which torrential rainfall and drought are more frequent now-a-day . Reason for this is the destruction of forest lead to fast evaporation process (instead of slow and steady evaporation by forest cover) and allow to escape more water into the atmosphere where they condensed on to already abundantly available micro hygrographic element in the form of dust particle, the elements of gases entrusted by human being ,lead to fast formation of cloud consequently down poured in the form of heavy rain . the situation is inverse in the area where such condition do not prevalent which lead to prolonged drought conditions
Effect on local community -
in the hilly areas people use to create their habitat on the sloppy areas which r not stable or on the river banks which are flood occasionally due to unexpected rainfall; they r imposing extra pressure on slope by their activities which is responsible to loosening sheer strength of the slope. When ever their is rainfall or heavy rainfall (as water work as lubricant) in such area the shear stress increase tremendously lead to failure of slope consequently landslide take place in these area while in the river bed area where the fast flow of water wash away the banks soil and habitat if present their easily leads to calamities,
on another perspective for the grass land areas in the hilly region which are already found in the critical climatic conditions a slight change in the climate lead to change in such region such as deficiency in precipitation lead to drought like condition in such area and vegetation is devastated or excessive interference by human in these region through grazing also lead to degradation of the grassland and consequence they would have to wander a lot area in search of grazing lands. change in seasonality also leads to change in vegetation of the areas and shift in vegetation or climatic zone up or down hill r also the adverse effect of climate change
To be precise I would say that mountain communities would be one of the worst hit by various climate impacts. The problems could include changes in atmospheric temperature and rainfall pattern, food security, change in agriculture, availability of water resources, changes in land use, forest fires, and man wildlife conflict.
