As many research stated that the climate change affect the yield of crops in India. There may be the statistics of 1 percent increase in temperature there may be a 10 to 15 percent decrease in yield... But the India's food grain production keep on increasing year by year. how?

Climate change further poses a challenge to food security challenges with its influence on food production, costs, and security. Agriculture and food production are likely to be significantly affected by climate change. According to one estimate, yields of major crops could decline by up to 25%. A recent IPCC report also warned that in the years to come, food security will stand threatened due to climate change coupled with increasing demands of the rising population. Climatic factors like increased temperatures and extreme rainfall will affect productivity by causing physiological changes. In addition, they will affect soil fertility, the incidence of pest infestation and the availability of water. This will impact crops, animal husbandry as well as fisheries.

Global Food Policy 2022 report has warned that climate change may push 90 million Indians towards hunger by 2030. Due to salinity, water logging and drought, about 30-50 per cent of agricultural land still remains uncultivable. Salinity affected 1.1 million hectors of land in these coastal areas. Due to this salinity rice production will fall by 8 per cent and wheat by 32 per cent by 2050. This has heavily impacted India's central belt running from western Maharashtra State to the Bay of Bengal, which has seen extreme rainfall events increase threefold over the last 70 years, but has also had a decrease in total annual rainfall. Agriculture contributes to a number larger of environmental issues that cause environmental degradation including: climate change, deforestation, biodiversity loss, dead zones, genetic engineering, irrigation problems, pollutants, soil degradation, and waste. Aggravated climatic factors will ultimately decline plant productivity, which will result in increased prices and unaffordable rates for the common population. The absence of mitigation and adaptation measures may result in lower farm income by 12-40% in the coming years.
