I am currently studying MHC IIb in fish, yet can't seem to find literature that clearly delineates the homologue in humans (HLA). HLA is better characterized, but still it seems as if there are synonyms for loci amongst unclear definitions between disparate loci. Thus far two loci seem likely candidates: HLA-DMB and HLA-DOB.
If anyone has any clear literature succinctly summarizing the HLA, I would appreciate it.

I think MHC IIB of fish is more homologous to DRB, DQb or DPb rather that DOb or DM b. The latter two genes when combined with their alpha chains form HLA-DM and HLA-DO, which are chaperon and play critical roles in epitope selection. They are much less polymorphic than DR, DP or DQ molecules, which are the antigen presenting molecules.
Dear Jackie, HLA-DM and -DO belongs to the non-classical MHC II, they are intracellular molecules and they regulate peptide loading to classical MHC II (i.e HLA-DR, DP, DQ) Search for your human homologue among the classical MHC II which are formed of two chains, a and b (hence the genes HLA-DRa, HLA-DRb etc)
