When reading research papers I saw that Drug loading for MOFs (Metal organic frameworks) have been tested for more than 1 day. But drug loading for other compounds as nanoparticles etc. have been done for shorter time intervals as 2-12 hours. Is there a reason to only take long time durations for the drug loading of MOFs ?
Loading time will depend on quite a few factors but in this case it would appear the big difference is whether the loading is on the surface or inside pores. For the nanoparticles, the loading is most likely adsorption on the surface which should be a fairly rapid process. For MOFS, the material needs to diffuse into the pores of the material and will take more time for that process.
