The open access journals were originally an answer to the need for more free science exchange, but along with the development of OA journals several damaging phenomena were created , such as predatory journals, and costly publication fees , and unless these problems are solved, the future of the OA journals in uncertain.

In the field of open access journals, serious problems have arisen, such as high publication fees and predatory publishers.

However, there are Latin American initiatives such as SciELO and Redalyc that, in my opinion, are a testimony that it is possible to maintain a wide set of open access journals in an environment with quality requirements, without the high fees charged by commercial publishers.

Maybe some paths to the future of open access go through this type of models.

The open access journals are fast and I think all the journals in the future will shift to open access system

I think that interest in open access journals will increse, even if the fees are high. The reviewing process is very fast, and furthermore it is still constructive and in most cases highly improves the quality of the manuscript.

Also, we should not forget that it is nice when all people, not only researchers and scientist who's uni had bought the journal subscription, may read the latest articles.

If these trends will persist, open access journals will have a bright future.
