This link shows the greatest opportunities for Biogas in Asia,
I do also agree with the expert views and the time they have spent on answering such a wonderful question.
Meanwhile, we can also target Country-wise - India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, and Sri Lanka to understand more .....
Data about Biogas in India you can get most of the details from Indian Biogas Association and am sure similarly the data can be extracted from other countries associations as well.
This is indeed an interesting questions especially in Southeast Asia is recently more concerning on upgrading biogas as a major source of future growth and for cleaner future as well . One of the best examples to mention is Malaysia.
The future of biogas in Asia started in 1985 with the commissioning of our first large industrial high-rate anaerobic digestion (HRAD) plant in Thailand following our successful agro-industrial HRAD plants in Europe since 1980.
Since those pioneering days, we further developped our technology as to achieve up to 99% conversion of organics to biomethane.

Asia can make a very bright future in bio energy including biogas. It has a lot of reservoir for bio- resources. The productivity of land is very good here. On top of that, for its geographic position, so many microbial communities are also available to produce biogas. For the same reason we can see genetic diversity of bio- resources and using this variation, we can prepare different biogas and go for genetic modification of the bio-materials to get better output qualitatively and quantitively.
