function of feed pump in a boiler is to feed water to boiler. Two type of feed pumps are generally used in boilers-positive displacement type and centrifugal type.in some pumps special device or accessory is used to keep the water at saturation pressure and release over pressure.
The feed pump raises the feedwater to a pressure high enough for it to enter the boiler. For auxiliary boilers, where small amounts of feedwater are pumped, a steam-driven reciprocating positive displacement pump may be used. Another type of feed pump often used on package boiler installations is known as an 'electro feeder'. This is a multi-stage centrifugal pump driven by a constant speed electric motor. The number of stages is determined by the feed quantity and discharge pressure.
The BFP pumps water higher than the saturation pressure and thus permits heat intake at the economiser and other stages.
It also depends on the type and on the size of the boiler you're studying. In small boilers the feed pump has the functions of both extracting the water from the condener and feeding to the boiler itself. In large boilers the pumps are various (extraction of water from condenser, feeding to the drains, feeding to the boiler itself and so on...)

Basic function of Boiler feed water pump is to produce sufficient amount of pressure required to turbine inlet with added amount of pressure drop of flow path of boiler components.
Pressure required to develop through bfp = Turbine inlet pressure + Pressure drop of boiler components
and also its a prime important in case of develop more than saturation pressure in case of supercritical boiler segments concerned
