I'm trying to do a drought stress experiments on pooideae grasses. I'm wondering what is the exact experimental condition I should expose my plants which can be called DROUGHT STRESS? Presently, I'm measuring soil moisture (%WC) to determine the drought level, if I start with a %WC of 16 at day 1, then by day 7-9 for drought plants (no watering) show %WC of ~3-4, which is 80% water loss. Now, this theory is based on one of my own published research paper (https://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/2016/6021047/) and it's on soybean not focused on grasses.
I am wondering whether there are any other articles which gives better parameters and explanations for the optimal drought condition. Simple question is this MAGIC NUMBER of days or %WC comes from where? What's the basis of it?
My research question is whether -"drought and cold responsive gene expression overlaps or not in pooideae grasses (trying to answer evolutionary origin and adaptation of temperate grasses from drought and cold stress)".
