What is the main difference between a (multiple) case study and a mixed method research design?

For example:

In mixed method research, you combine numbers (quantitative) and stories (qualitative) to understand a big picture. It’s like asking, “How many toys are there, and why do people like them?”

In a case study, you focus deeply on one toy to understand everything about it. If you study multiple toys, each one is explored separately with its own story.
