I am thinking to do a SR or just review on the effectiveness of motion capture system in understanding human kinematics. I am seeing Vicon Nexus is used extensively these days, but I am unable to get SR or review article for the same. So I thought it will be a productive study to go for it.
Please suggest me.

Everything depends on the specific objective problem by you. Accuracy even sicklier system is sufficient, that you can as a result of accurate measurements and use accurate methods of data processing to analyze heart rate. But for certain it is possible to find the movements at which there will be problems with data processing because of traditional diseases of the motion capture systems : hit more than two markers to the vicinity of an axis of sensitivity of a sensor, loss of a marker signal etc. The software good, but losses of accuracy are already essential. About errors speech less than a millimeter most likely doesn't go, and the analysis of mistakes at calculation of speeds and accelerations is complicated. But for the majority of biological tests the Vicon system is one of the best. It is few alternatives.

I am a mathematician and was engaged in the solution of special problems of data processing. Itself didn't use the software of Vicon. The familiar staff of Institute of Mechanics of MSU uses Vicon Nexus and as far as I know is quite satisfied with it .

Within the context of the Cochrane Collaboration systematic reviews usually identify randomised controlled trials, assess the quality of the research design and execution of these studies and then synthesize these data performing a met-analysis when there is sufficient comparable evidence of good quality.
Bringing together studies re effectiveness of motion captures system/s is appealling -- but defining the research question/s and identifying appropriate outcome measure/s will be challenging.
Articles on system accuracy and issues with marker placement have been published. There have also been some articles regarding the influence of clinical gait assessment on clinical decision making for children with cerebral palsy; implying that the addition information from motion capture informs clinical decision making -- however a full clinical gait assessment will include more than motion capture -- energy consumption and muscle activity often form part of such an assessment.

Vicon is a flexible and reliable system. I think you need to be clear whether you are talking about capture or analysis. For capture it is very effective. For sophisticated or custom analyses it is usually necessary to go beyond nexus.
I agree with Dorothy, for acquisition of human movement, not for processing these data.
The limitations on your acquisition will likely be more dependent upon your hardware (cameras, force plates, A-to-D board), but we have recently upgraded from Vicon Workstation to Vicon Nexus and I believe it is a strong tool. The flexibility is great for how you want to capture different projects/studies and the ability to perform auto-labeling (which I believe will be upgraded further in the next year or two) can lead to substantial reductions in post-processing time. The interface and graphics are also great.
I agree with Dorothy and Adam. Vicon/Nexus is great for collecting motion capture data. The problem is that most people who use Vicon/Nexus use the Vicon Plug-in-Gait model to calculate joint kinematics and kinetics. This model was developed two decades ago and has several drawbacks (e.g. not the best regression equation is used to estimate the hip joint centre, limited number of markers, does not allow consistent musculoskeletal analysis like muscle-moment arm and muscle-tendon length analyis). Nexus 2, which was released a few months ago, allows to integrate Matlab scripts in your Nexus analysis. This enables to customize models and overcome some of the limitations of Plug-in-Gait.
This is a very general question. Perhaps if you clarify what aspect of the Vicon Nexus program that you are looking into might help people give you their expert opinion. In my view, the majority of problems associated with motion capture depend on the marker placement and the marker set that they use to calculate joint centers, etc. Are you interested in the nexus program itself and the way that it calculates the position of the markers or are you looking at the accuracy of moments during gait or any other motion? What kinematic variables are you interested in? I highly agree with Dorothy and I think that after some more understanding of the whole process of motion capture then you may be able to clarify your research question.
