A soundscape is a sound or combination of sounds that forms or arises from an immersive environment. The study of soundscape is the subject of acoustic ecology or soundscape ecology.
The landscape (location) design depends on the use of the location, which is greatly influenced by the context. The context will inform if the sound sources of this location will be positively or negatively rated. I recommend to check the soundscape standard (Acoustics - Soundscape: Part 1 - Definition and conceptual framework - ISO 12913-1:2014) to understand the soundscape paradigma and how is the role of landscape, sound sources, etc which can influence on the soundscape perception and diverse outcomes (from annoyance, stress, physical problems, until relaxation, joy, vibrancy).
The following book is explaining the interaction landscape and soundscape:

Another resource that could be useful would be Emily Thompson's fascinating book entitled: "The Soundscape of Modernity: Architectural Acoustics and the Culture of Listening in America, 1900-1933."
From Chapter 1: "The Soundscape of Modernity is a history of aural culture in early twentieth-century America. It charts dramatic transformations in what people heard, and it explores equally significant changes in ways that people listened to those sounds."
