Recognition: Do the participants feel the research is relevant, recognizable, understandable, in accords with their situation? 2. Pragmatic/funcktion: Do the participants think the research will «work»? 3. Benefit: Do the participants think the research will fasilitate long term benefit for those involved? Plato talks about this in regards to education in Laws Book II. Also Kurt Lewin points to the value of knowledge creation to what makes the situation and relations a little better for those involved. Acceptance from individuals is not taking into consideration soft factors generally as IS as a topic encompass an audience of IT individuals who carry with them logical traits and do not leave much space to persuasion or ambiguity. However, in my experience, I have noticed that those people appreciate social experiments and if the methodology is human-centric you will have a better chance to be accepted. They are not necessarily monetary driven and you will require a value exchange that they need. Try to exchange new knowledge and breakthroughs instead of simple cooperation, find values that can be shared in order to achieve true collaboration. Confucius once said that knowing what you know and knowing what you do not know is real knowledge. Find that breakeven and start your exchange.
