Many tranquilizing medicines help people by making them more relaxed than before. In long term use they - e.g. benzodiazepines - have serious side-effects like problems in memory. Antipsychotic drugs make the person's mind still more rigid. I have a theory that benzodiazepines and neuroleptic medicines just "freeze" the mind but they don't cure. I would like to hear your opinions and experiences. I think that there are other ways too to treat peoples' anxiety states and confusion states. Maybe people actually should go through these states of mind - they are of course very unpleasant often - to come to a better and more controlled state of life. Maybe without certain thorough experience processes something important is not developing in peoples' minds.
