Hi Ali Hameed Yassir, I'm pretty sure that helium has no effect on the virus. As a noble gas, helium is chemically very inert. An atmosphere of pure helium would rather lead to suffocation.
You still have not answered the question by Stephen Reynolds about the "reasoning behind this thought". Sadanand Pandey
pointed to a very interesting article about the benefical properties of a oxygen-helium breathing mixture versus the normal oxygen-nitrogen breathing mixture for patients with respiratory ailments. Was this what you had in mind or was there something else? After all, if a oxygen-helium mixture can keep the patient off of a ventilator, then this might give their immune system enough time to kill the COVID-19 virus without, at the same time, killing the patient by congestive suffocation due to an overresponse of the same immune system. Your original question was so terse that it really was hard to understand the basis behind the question, i.e., did you think helium would kill the virus directly, as suggested by the answer by Frank T. Edelmann , or indirectly?.
Thank you for the explanation. I was unaware of the breathing mixture named 'Heliox' until you just mentioned it. Sadanand Pandey
had, of course, referred to a recent article on oxygen-helium breathing mixtures, but I had no idea that it had been used as far back as the1930's. I had to look it up on Wlkipedia. It just proves that you can learn something from someone every day, whether you want to or not, provided that you listen, of course.
According to Some doctors and scientists in Russia (as published in news articles and press releases), warm helium (at 100 degrees Celsius) kills the SARS-COV2 virus causing covid-19 due to the heat. Some of these scientists in Russia have followed up reporting that the helium at 100 degrees Celsius kills only the SARS-COV2 without scalding the normal tissue. Assuming this is true (and noting that these scientists in Russia are among experts around the world), there is not known why the 100 degree Celsius helium kills the SARS-COV2. I have taken an interest since this announcement of helium directly killing covid-19 virus as I have published prior theory that some proteins and RNA of covid-19 may be enriched with non-primordial (uncommon) stable isotopes of 13C, 15N, 17O, 25Mg and/or 33S all having non-zero nuclear magnetic moments due to the virus origin in bats. See archived manuscript : https://vixra.org/abs/2003.0493 . I further give in my theory that feeding the virus stable isotopes of nonzero nuclear magnetic moments may induce mutations of it or inactivate it to less harmful states. I was struck by this result from Russia of warm heated Helium killing covid-19 as helium has a stable isotope of 3He of 0.00001% relative abundance and large negative nuclear magnetic moment. It is not known by experiment but I reason that 3He may kill or inactivate covid-19 virus my magnetic interacting with it at the high temperatures. Please note this is just my theory and my idea is controversial, the theory needs testing!
I would like to note further aspects of my theory of using 13C, 15N, 17O, 25Mg and/or 33 S to treat covid-19 by there nonzero nuclear magnetic moments and this aspect of nonzero nuclear magnetic moment of 3He acting to inactivate covid-19. In addition to the magnetic properties of these nuclei and their activities against magnetic molecules of covid-19 , I further note that in the Russian treatment they are using 20% O2 in 80% He gaseous mixture at 100 degrees celsius and the O2 solute in the gas mixture is paramagnetic and also magnetically acting of the magnetic covid-19! I reason there is this special nature of this treatment as being administered at 100 degrees celsius so that the magnetism of the O2 (possibly 17O with negative NMMs) and 3He (negative NMMs) in the mixture is much greater to act on the covid-19 virus, but due to the 80% Heliums and its low atomic weight the gas does not burn. The magnetic moment of the O2 also diminishes thermal effects as a lot of energy is in electromagnetism of the gases interacting with the tissue, cells and the covid-19 virus for less thermal energy for burning. Regular air of 20% O2 and 80% N2 mixture at 100 celsius would burn due to heavier atomic mass of N and the 14N with negative NMMs dissipative to thermal energy. So it is further important to give the even greater paramagnetic effect of O2 acting on the covid-19 virus. There are recent other publications from China pointing to ability of proteins produced by RNA from covid-19 to extract Fe from hemoglobin and these proteins to replace iron ions in the hemoglobin. The replaced iron is accumulated into ferritin protein as commonly observed in covid-19 patients having elevated levels of ferritin. I cannot imagine the covid-19 virus being able to do this without it manifesting some intrinsic magnetic properties itself. Therefore the covid-19 molecule having magnetic nature itself , it is important to consider both paramagnetic O2 and 17O and 3He interacting to inactivate the covid-19.
Within April 2020, I have searched literature and only observed press releases of heated helium oxygen at 100 Celsius only being applied in Russia. I only recall one article expressing some interest in USA and Europe, but no specifics.

I noticed this press release today outside of Russia in USA at University of Arizona where they report use of helium and oxygen mixture on covid-19 patients, but they do not report heating the mixture and administering it at 100 Celsius as the Russian study reported.
I am extremely creative scientists. But data is essential in all great science. Therefore I am happy to report two different Russian publications this week revealing effective treatment of covid-19 by use of hot helium oxygen mixture in combination with anticoagulant. See:

Hi Dr. Edelmann and Dr Yassir, nice article on use of helium oxygen prior to covid19 for pneumonia treatment . I think the Russian of 2020 study is different as the latest heats the helium oxygen mixture to temperatures from 90 to 100 Celsius and apply to respiratory at this high temp. I think prior to 2020, the helium oxygen mixture was not heated for hot application. I, in April 2020, also proposed further modifications to Russian work as I (Reginald B Little) suggested the 3He is the active ingredient for in activating sars-cov2 due to its large negative nuclear magnetic moment and the enrichment of the helium with 3He would cause more effective curing of covid-19. It would be interesting if someone could test my theory by applying 3He enriched helium oxygen mixture to sick patients to see if it is more effective than the normal helium relative abudance.
Dear Ali Hameed Yassir please see this very recent link entitled "Plasma Treatments Quickly Kill Coronavirus on Surfaces". According to this report, a "spray using plasma fed by argon killed all the coronavirus on the six surfaces in less than three minutes, and most of the virus was destroyed after 30 seconds." Replacing argon by helium was not successful: "The authors ran a similar coronavirus test with helium-fed plasma, but the helium was not effective, even with treatments up to five minutes. The authors believe this was due to lower rates of reactive oxygen and reactive nitrogen when using helium-fed gas, compared to argon."
