During this time when the COVID-19 pandemic is crippling various industries, public construction has been one of the few industries that has been maintained to some extent. Although activity will likely continue in the short-term, the work is expected to halt soon given various factors including supply chains disruption, shortage of subcontractors and materials, and the termination of contracts to control expenses. This question looks at the short-term stress in the construction projects subsectors as well as long-term impacts for the entire industry.

The scale of the direct impact of the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) pandemic on the construction sector, on the level of investment in construction, may be significantly different in individual countries depending on the level of economic development, sector and branch structure of the economy, etc. Moreover, the pandemic may also be affect the construction sector depending on the scale of state intervention, the scale of the anti-crisis economic policy applied and support for the development of investments in the construction sector, construction of housing estates, construction of public infrastructure facilities, etc.
