The coulombic efficiency of my supercapacitor device is increasing with the increase in the applied current density of charging-dicharging.
Can someone please enlighten me on this trend because as per my understanding, higher current densities usually leads to device fading and lower discharge times.
Coulombic efficiency is the ratio of discharge time to charge time (×100). It says the quality of the material at various current densities. From your question if it works that way, it is a good sign that the material is good to work with higher current densities. Although it's true that at higher current densities the discharge time is little (and also charging time), the ratio reflects the storage ability of the electrode. Higher value at high current density is good indicating good storage ability and less discharging time shows the quick dissipating power both of which are excellent features of a supercapacitor. Adding to my previous answer.. The electrolyte you chose also plays a key role. Some electrolytes can function without decomposing beyond their actual working potential range. 👍

However, i am still curious about the reason behind low col. efficiency of my device at small current density values. If a device works satisfactorily at high density, then it should ought to work well at lower values too.

You can jump to page no. 5 of this paper to save your time. I am sure you know this point but is there no ohmic drop at high current densities?
