I'm conducting research on the topic of the effect of boundary conditions on the numerical simulation of underground mining, and now finite element or finite difference method is my primary choice. Lateral stress boundary is mostly used when high geostress, especially the horizontal stress, is tackled. A few questions appeared like the initial stress field and the failure mechanism of mining space. I also find an article titled "In situ stress field inversion and its application in mining-induced rock mass movement" that benefits me a lot. So is there anyone who is doing/have been done relevant research and give me some advice?
