Apoptosis is the process of programmed cell death (PCD) including the biochemical events of blebbing, cell shrinkage, nuclear fragmentation, chromatin condensation, and chromosomal DNA fragmentation. Apoptosis is not the opposite concept of differential growth, thus I do not know how to interpret the difference between them

The definition of both processes is well known.  Both processes are involved in the morphogenesis of vertebrate organs and each of them as you said is not  the opposite concept of the other. Consequently, there must be certain differences between both processes as mechanisms for organ morphogenesis at least in terms of the species under consideration as well as the organs themselves.
