Ibrahim - A survey is a method for collecting information or data in a given community. For example, social survey is a collection of data concerning the living and working conditions of the people in a given community. A pilot study is a “pre-study” of a fuller study. It is a small scale preliminary study conducted in order to evaluate feasibility, time, cost, adverse events, and improve upon the study design prior to performance of a full-scale research project. A pilot study establishes the validity of research based upon the expert knowledge of other researchers in the discipline, therefore preventing falsified work from being accepted within an area of study. Ideally, the sample you choose for pilot study should be members of the same group that you intend to target for the full study and should mostly be based on 5 to 10 people. Pilot studies could be conducted in qualitative, quantitative, and even mixed methods research.
