1. 'Co-culture': after the explants are infected by Agrobacteria, the explants are placed on a specific medium for a couple of days to let the T-DNA has chance to be transferred into the explants. This process is called Co-culture.
2. I have not heard 'Nurse culture' on Agrobacterium-medium transformation. Instead, I found the definition of 'Nurse culture' online ( http://www.worthington-biochem.com/tissuedissociation/glossary.html ). See below. And a paper about it (see attachment).
***"Nurse culture: In the culture of plant cells, the growth of a cell or cells on a contiguous culture of different origin which in turn is in contact with the tissue culture medium. The cultured cell or tissue may be separated from the feeder layer by a porous matrix such as filter paper or membranous filters." [from the website]
In Nurse tissue culture a plant cell or tissue is culture on a filter paper wick placed on MS medium. It absorb medium and provide to the plant cell or explant.
In Agrobacterium transformation we co-cultivate explant with bacteria we can used this Nurse tissue culture technique with it. After infection with Agrobacterium the explant can be cultured on filter paper placed on MS medium.
